I Say Hello

What Advantages Does The 357 Sig Have Over Other Rounds?

What significant advantage is there to using the 357 sig over a round like 9mm +p, 40 s&w or 45 acp? How well does the 357 sig perform?

Answer:It is a very fast little round made with the idea of duplicating .357 magnum performance out of a semiauto handgun. It does nothing of the sort. It is expensive and as all the others before me said has no real advantages. Some people love it because it shoots flatter than other pistol rounds and is supposed to be more accurate. In all reality though any pistol round out of a 4 inch barrel (the average barrel lenght) is going to be inherently inaccurate. I have the .40 s&w and it is incredible. It does nothing to deserve it's "short and weak" nickname. It is as accurate as they come but it does not kick like a .45 nor does it have the pitiful stopping power attributed to the 9mm. Hope this helps

How Expensive Is 357 Sig Compared To 9mm Ammunition?

Also, can you convert a 357 sig pistol to a 9mm pistol with a simple barrel change? Also, from what I understand, 357 sig is not the most popular round in the U.S., but does it have any followers on the international market? Can you buy this round anywhere besides online?

Answer:No to that conversion. 357 Sig is a 40 S&W cartridge necked down to .381 to hold a .355 bullet. This means that many guns chambered for 40 S&W can converted to 357 Sig, or vice-versa 357 Sig to 40 S&W. Most that can be converted can be done with a drop in barrel and recoil spring change. Unfortunately outside of a select amount of LEO and private groups the 357 Sig has not turned out to have a huge following. This means you can expect to pay significantly more for 357 Sig than 9mm or 40 S&W.

What Is The Best Gun Chambered For 357 Sig?

I'm looking for the best quality firearm that is chambered for 357 sig. Any suggestions?

Answer:Depends if you want compact or regular. Sig Sauer P229 is their compact comes in .357 sig, .40 s&w, and 9mm Sig Sauer P226 is their regular size, comes in the same calibers.

Why Is The 357 Sig Not As Popular As Other Bullets?

From what I understand, the 357 sig has more stopping power than both the 40 s&w and 45 acp, has the same amount of recoil, and is much more flat shooting which means it's more accurate. So is there any reason why gun buyers are avoiding this caliber? Also, because the 357 sig is a necked down cartridge, it doesn't have the feeding problems that the 40 and 45 might have. That's another plus for the 357 sig.

Answer:I agree that it's a great bullet. Personally, I think the 9x25 Dillon would make an even better defensive round, and should be very popular. However, just like the 357 sig, it is not very popular. Hopefully more agencies will switch to it in the future, but until then, it will remain expensive and hard to find. If you are really interested in HOT rounds, consider a Glock model 20, which chambers the 10mm Auto. Then, by a 6" Lone Wolf barrel for it chambered in 9x25 Dillon. Your muzzle velocity reaches around 2,000 fps when purchasing the best loads from Doubletap Ammo. You can also purchase the Lone Wolf barrel from Doubletap.

What's The Difference Between .357 Sig And .40 S&w?

What are the main differences between .357 sig and .40 S&W?

Answer:Ballistic Comparison Summary Results: Muzzle Muzzle Bullet Velocity Energy Weight .357 Sig 1397 498 116 .40 S&W 1094 440 167 Based on this comparison of the respective ballistics for the two cartridges, the .357 Sig leaves the barrel faster asnd with more energy and the .40 S&W delivers a heaver projectile.
