I Say Hello

How Do You Become An American Heart Association CPR Instructor?

I am currently an EMT I with CPR for Healthcare Provider certification. I would like to become an American Heart Association CPR Instructor and can find little information about how to accomplish this. Even the AHA website is pretty useless in this quest. Any Help is much appreciated.

Answer:Americanheart.org and locate a local AHA CPR instructor Course. These CPR Instructor Classes usually involve an Online or Classroom Core Instructor Module, and then a Specific Teaching Module for BLS (Health-care provider) & Heartsaver ( Lay-rescuer) CPR. Then an In-Class Evaluation (Monitoring). Usually you must AHA CPR Certified to attend the CPR Instructor Classes. Rockford Ambulance performs individualized American Heart Association CPR Instructor Classes in the Grand Rapids Michigan Area. Maybe a local Ambulance service will have a CPR Instructor Course Closer then Grand Rapids.. lol.

Can A Lifeguard Get Re-certified In CPR Through The American Heart Association Instead Of The Red Cross?

I have been working as a lifeguard for nearly a year and realized my cpr certification expires soon. My parents know people that certify in cpr for the american heart association who can certify me, but i cant find anyone to do it for red cross. There is currently no one at my work who can certify me, so it has to be outside of work.

Answer:American Heart Association or the Red Cross, you can get the re-certified in CPR because both of them are qualified

Is It Hard To Get Certified In First Aid And CPR By The American Heart Association?

I was certified in CPR by the American Red Cross but it expired and am certified in first aid by the same organization, but that's due to expire in May and it wasn't too hard to pass the tests for that. Now I'm in a first aid and CPR class and the teacher says that we will be getting certified by the American Heart Association. I just was curious.

Answer:No, it's not hard. There is a class you take that lasts about 2-3 hours. They show you how to spot the signs of someone in cardiac arrest and how to administer breathing aid and chest compressions. You also learn how to use the Heartsaver AED (automatic external defibrillator). It is not a difficult course; however, you must pay attention so you will remember what to do in real life should you need to use the knowledge. There is a complete course handbook that you receive to read on your own as a refresher.
