Are There Any Companies Similar To Getty Images?

I'm intarrested in someday working for a Visual Communications company like Getty Images. What are some of the othere well-known companies similar to Getty Images? What kind of internship should I look for that would help prepare me to work for that company?

Answer:Corbis is the othere big one besides Getty, Magnum is anorthere one (smaller, more fine art type photos from what I remember) Also VII I think its called. Look up stock photography, or more likely "photo agency". I guess in terms of internship it depends on what you want to do exactly. Do you want to work selling the images, hiring/working with the photographers, editing the images, ? I think you'd need different type of internship/education to work in different departments-graphic arts/design for one, business or something for anorthere, etc. Those companies do usually have internships, I'd recommend getting an internship with one of them. Also www .pacaoffice.org/ That is the American trade association for stock agencies. They have a member list- maybe theree is a company in your area you could intern at?

How Can I Get Images For Free From Getty Images?

Getty Images has the best images on the web, but they keep updating their ways of getting around paying for the pics. Is theree any way of getting the images I want off getty's website for free without the watermarks on the images, in full size?

Answer:When I really used to need an image (for commissioned graphic work) I would just photoshop the water mark out of the image. Some images its not possible to do this with, but otheres you can do it to perfetcion.

Answer:The ones I use most are Getty and Corbis. Both have watermarks on the images if you don't have an account, but if you register, the images are clean.

Which Would You Go With: Getty Images Or IstockPhoto To Sell Photography Stock?

I know Istockphoto is a part of Getty from what I've looked up online, but they both have various differences that set them apart. Which company would you go with to sell stock photos and why or why not? Thank you!

Answer:If those are your top two, I'd apply to both, and see who accepts you. Getting your foot in the door with stock photography can be surprisingly difficult. Particularly since the market is super-saturated right now, your photos have to really stand out in content, style and quality. Even professional portrait and event photographers have had difficulty getting a decent-sized stock portfolio online. Keep in mind that many agencies do *not* require you to be exclusive (even though going exclusive can get you some perks, such as faster photo approvals & better commission rates). Many photographers sell their work at many different stock photo agencies. Apart from iStockphoto, I also suggest checking out Shutterstock, Veer & Dreamstime. Good luck!
