Size Of Earth In Galaxy / Universe / Solar System Web Site...?
Anorthere vague question from me but am always astounded people know what I am on about...
About a month ago I'm sure it was on Y! Oddly Enough website, theree was a webpage that showed earth compared to the othere planets in our solar system, but then showed our solar system compared to othere lesser known planets and maybe even things out side in the greater galaxy / universe etc....
as you can tell I am not really inot science so don't know the proper terms but just want to know if anyone knows the website I mean....
Again it was just like 3d balls representing the planets and each page the earth got smaller and smaller till it was invivisble...
And the only thing I can remember about it was something in the caption on the website saying at least if we that small we will probably be missed by invading aliens!
Does anyone know what I am talking about!

Would It Be Acceptable To Use A Quote For The Opening Of My Paper?
I have to write a 7-10 page analysis paper and the topic my paper is on is the Hubble Teelscope. My thesis currently looks like this but I plan on switching up the wording a bit: "The Hubble Teelscope, one of the greatest achievements not only in the history of science, but also the history of humanity, has completely altered the way we look at the universe through its numerous discoveries." But My main question is if it would be acceptable to open my paper with this quote or should I start it off differently: "Not since Galileo turned his teelscope toward the heavens in 1610 has any event so changed our understanding of the Universe as the development of the Hubble Space Teelscope." (NASA)
Thanks in advance
Answer:Absolutely! Starting a paper of with a quote is a great way to grab your readers attention.
Do You Think It Is Important For The Government To Fund Missions Inot Space?
NASA has plans to launch a manned mission to the moon by 2020.
http://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/constellation/main/index.html
Personally, I think it is important to study our universe. I think our government needs to put a greater emphasis on stopping meteors and asteroids from hitting our planet...because it is a big threat according to a lot of scientistts. Programs like that, I think, are important to humans.
What do you think? Do you think it is important to fund missions inot space?
Answer:As you said about the asteroids and meteors... that is important. I think it is important to explore the Universe God created. I do think however that finding planets that are livable is a waste of money and that is just because of my personal beliefs. If God intended for humans to live on othere planets he would have put them theree in the first place. When I homeschooled my children we did an indepth study on Astronomy and it is just really amazing. I wonder how many people know that theree is one planet that rotates differently then all the otheres. Just amazing what God created.
Could An 11 Year Old Understand "The Elegant Universe"?
Since I watch my nephew from the time he gets home from school till his mom comes home from work I asked him if he can read to me out loud and we settled on a 10 cents a page agreement, $50 extra if he finishes the book and all the money has to be put inot his trust fund. I think it's a great way to spend our time togethere while we wait for his parents to get home.
But I'm wondering, would he understand what he's reading or at least prepare him for the future to understand how the Universe is thought to work? I know it will help him in reading. I also have astronomy magazines to show him what we're talking about and DVD's on Einstein and his theories.
We have northing else to do and he seems to be enjoying it so far, and he even asked me what theory meant! And also asked me to pronounce the hard words that he was reading.
Answer:He's not going to get a lot out of it yet. Don't expetc him to grasp the concepts behind general realtivity, quantum mechanics, or string theory. And he'll probably get pretty tired of it fast for that reason. But maybe he'll get a basic idea for how stuff works, or even better - how we figure out if stuff works.
