Histology (n.) That branch of biological science, which treats of the minute (microscopic) structure of animal and vegetable tissues; -- called also histiology.
What Is The Best Printed Or Online Source To Learn The Basics Of Histology And Histopathology?
I am a biologist and I'm now learning new techniques includeing immunohistochemistry. However, I have no histology background to help me troubleshoot my staining. Does anyone know of beginer books, seminars, online courses that will help me out?
Answer:For basic histology, I recommend "Color Atlas of Histology" by Gartner and Hiatt -- it's a good, basic text with lots of pictures that illustarte what they're talking about. It has a companion textbook ("Color Textbook of Histology") as well, if you need furthere elaboration, without all the pictures.
For histopathology, check this website:
http://webpath.dmsf.edu.ph/
The pictures are classsic for their given pathologies. If you need explantations, Robbins and Cotran "Pathological Basis of Disease" is probably the most authoritative source you can find -- it's not completely histo-oriented, but it's pretty heavy on it.
What Is The Application Of Histology In Diagnostic Diseases?
Plz suggest me few websites that explain about these application. Plz discuss in detail with few examples. The website suggested must contain accurate information of the above question. This would help me in my assignment.
Answer:Take a look at this, and click on the 'seletced articles' too.

Are Coroners Reports And Histology Results In The UK Automatically Sent To The GP Of The Deceased?
Or to the hospital where the person died?
Bardic, thanks for the link.
I was referring to histology reports that a Coroner may need to establish cause of death, but I didn't make that clear.
Answer:Mthinks you're confusing different systems. In England the Coroner is an officer of the Crown, not some pathologist. I think you'll find this helpful: www .walthamforest.gov.uk/index/environment/env-funerals/coroners.htm
Although it is from a London district the information applies across the country.
Shotgun Histology - What Program Or Website Does It Use?
Is the program or website used in Shotgun Histology (as seen on youtube) available for anyone to use? If it is could you post a link?
Need A Scientist: In Histology, It Seems That Alcohol Needs To Be Cleared Before Embedding With Paraffin, Why?
What would happen to the specimen if the alcohols weren't cleared with some sort of agent before being embedded with paraffin wax? I know alcohols aren't mixable with paraffin. Would the alcohol be retained in the sample? Would the paraffin not set? Would the sample be destoryed? Not a scientistt- just taking a classs. Thanks for your help.
Answer:The idea of the wax is that penetrates the sample so that when it is cleaved with a microtome it forms a proper slice. If the alcohol is not displaced the wax cannot penetrate the sample and slicing will be poor
