I Say Hello

What Is The Difference Between The IFL And UFC?

I love watching the UFC but can't seem to get enough of it. What is IFL like and what are the differences between the two? thank you so much for your answers!

Answer:You watch UFC so I will assume you know about it. The International Fight League (IFL) is another mixed martial arts promotion that uses a team competition format. Each team has at least 1 fighter for each weight division. Heavyweight, Light Heavyweight, Middleweight, Welterweight and Lightweight. Each team is coached by a legend of the sport of mixed martial arts. Pat Miletich - Quad City Silverbacks Renzo Gracie - New York Pitbulls Carlos Newton - Toronto Dragons Frank Shamrock - San Jose Razorclaws Matt Lindland - Portland Wolfpack Don Frye - Tucson Scorpions Igor Zinoviev - Chicago Red Bears Marco Ruas - Southern California Condors Ken Shamrock - Reno Lions Shawn Tompkins (Formerly Bas Rutten) - Los Angeles Anacondas Maurice Smith - Seattle Tiger Sharks Ken Yasuda - Tokyo Sabres Each team has a schedule of fights. One event might have the Condors vs the Sabres and the Tiger Sharks vs the Silverbacks and so on. The team competition is a best of 5 series. The teams with the best records go into the playoffs until a winner is crowned and that team is awarded championship rings like in other major sports. They have a new thing this year also. A Grand Prix for the best fighters in each weight division will be held at the end of the year. So even if you are on a team that never won a competition but you won all of your fights you might be crowned a champion. It will be a tournament style where you win and go to the next round or you lose and go home. And each weight division will crown a champion. The talent isn't as good as in the UFC but it is still alot of fun to watch. The IFL does have a few bright spots when it comes to talent though. Bart Palaszewski (Silverbacks) and Chris Horodecki (Anacondas) are two very good up and coming lightweight fighters. If you can't get enough of watching UFC you should give Pride Fighting Championship a try. They have some of the best talent in the world. The only difference is that they fight in a boxing style ring, have a 10 minute first round and they have knees and kicks on the ground.

Any Birthday Invitation Ideas For Mixed Martial Arts Fanatic Especially UFC & IFL?

It's his 40th surprise birthday party. I want the invitation to be themed with MMA.

Answer:Send octagon shaped invitations with the number 40 in the middle. Look at the cards the ring girls hold up to signify which round it is for some inspiration. In the inside spatter some red food coloring (dip a small paintbrush in it and flick it at the paper) after you print the invitation. Make sure you are wearing a sports bra and boy-shorts to the party (like a ring girl), and you need to blow the guests lots of kisses. If any of the guests tries to get touchy with you, a rear naked choke is a polite way to say "no" and it doesn't leave marks.

Why Is Bas Rutten A Commentator For IFL And Not UFC?

Bas was the famous fighter and ringside commentator for Pride FC which was ( among the UFC) the most popular division in the world. So doesn't it seem like he should be commentating beside Joe rogan rather that the person that is now. What is Dana White thinking? Has he no respect?

Answer:Bas is really focused on being a trainer an making videos, writing books, etc. as opposed to being a commentator so I wonder who made the call...was it Bas or Zuffa? UFC probably wanted to introduce the sport to the broader US audience with people who are easy to understand (Bas has a fairly thick accent) and entertaining. Clearly UFC did not choose commentators based on knowledge of the sport. Mike Goldberg is a doofus and constantly gets it wrong despite the fact that he's training now. Joe Rogan has some knowledge (not a whole lot sometimes), even though his commentary is colored by his own views about what a fighter can and should do. The guy is a stand-up comedian and did Fear Factor - what do you expect! I personally think it's hilarious to listen to him call a fight. The UFC commentators do a fine job for what they do - entertain and chat about fighting, fighters, stats, etc. Just don't take their input on actual skill or technique as being valid. I say lay back and wait for the next "goat vagina" comment from Rogan or "nice teep" idiotic comment from Goldberg...it's comedy! If you want to learn something, hit mute!

How Much Do IFL Fighters Make Per Fight? Annually?

I'm wondering can one earn a full time income from fighting in MMA events like the IFL, UFC, Elite XC and KOTC. I know names like Chuck Liddell and Randy Couture can make hundreds of thousands. But smaller leagues and smaller events don't pull in the PPV dollars like the UFC. Are they earning a living?

Answer:Well my buddy is an IFL fighter and he makes about 50K, but they are salaried with win bonuses, so it is different than the smaller shows. A lot of the smaller shows pay decent money, (a couple of grand) per fight, and the bonus is you can go around the smaller shows and rack up money by doing 2 or 3 a month, depending on your skill level. Even the undercard guys in the UFC usually make 4 or 5 grand, plus a win bonus. Here is the salaries from the UFC Fight Night last Wednesday. Kenny Florian ($22,000) def. Din Thomas ($16,000) Chris Leben ($20,000) def. Terry Martin ($12,000) Nate Diaz ($30,000) vs. Junior Assuncao ($6,000) Nate Quarry ($20,000) vs. Pete Sell ($10,000) Luke Cummo ($32,000) vs. Edilberto Crocota ($4,000) Cole Miller ($16,000) vs. Leonard Garcia ($6,000) Gray Maynard ($16,000) vs. Joe Veres ($3,000) Thiago Alves ($28,000) vs. Kuniyoishi Hironaka ($10,000) Dustin Hazelett ($16,000) vs. Jonathan Goulet ($6,500) By comparison here are the salaries to a smaller org, WEC for the WEC 29 card.. Carlos Condit $2,000 (includes $13,000 win bonus) def. Brock Larson $12,000 Paulo Filho $50,00 (includes $15,000 win bonus) def. Joe Doerkson $30,000 Jamie Varner $14,000 (includes $7,000 win bonus) def. Sherron Leggett $4,000 Jeff Curran $10,000 (includes $2,000 win bonus) def. Stephan Ledbetter $5,000 Antonio Banuelos $8,000 (includes $4,000 win bonus) def. Justin Robbins $2,000 Eric Schambari $8,000 (includes $4,000 win bonus) def. Logan Clark $6,000 Hirmomitsu Miura $6,000 (includes $3,000 win bonus) def. Fernando Gonzalez $3,000 Steven Cantwell $6,000 (includes $3,000 win bonus) def. Justin McElfresh $3,000 Blas Avena $4,500 (includes $2,000 win bonus) def. Tiki Ghosn $5,000 The salaries for the last Elite XC event. -Frank Shamrock ($1.3 million) def. Phil Baroni ($75,000) -Cung Le ($100,000) def. Tony Fryklund ($12,000) -Murilo "Ninja" Rua ($50,000) def. Joey Villasenor ($32,000) -Paul Buentello ($50,000) def. Carter Wiliams ($25,000) -Paul Daley ($30,000) def. Duane "Bang" Ludwig ($15,000) -Edson Berto ($25,000) def. Victor Valenzuela ($30,000) -Josh Thomson ($15,000) def. Nick Gonzalez ($10,000) Keep in mind these are just the athletic commission reportings, some fighters get paid bonuses for finishing fights, or for knockout of the night, or submission of the night. Some also get paid other bonuses not reported to the Athletic Commission. Typically once you get to a certain level pro wise, you can do alright. Even at very small local shows, it is not unheard for a pro fighter to make 2 or 3 grand. Which isn't bad for 15 minutes of work (or quicker if you finish). The super small local events, fighters can make between 500 to 2 thousand dollars. You get more money depending on your record and your reputation. Hope that helps!

How Would I Become A Mixed Martial Arts Referee In Dallas Texas For Leagues Like UFC,Pride,WEC Or IFL?

Answer:Pride doesn't exist anymore. UFC uses about 3 refs total. I don't know about IFL or WEC. But being in Dallas isn't going to help given that their aren't too many fights there.

A detailed expression of classic Hunter craftsmanship. Reproduced from historical Hunter design prints, The Original combines early 20th Century design with the unparalleled power of the Hunter Original motor. This great fan has been certified as an "Energy Star" ceiling fan meaning that it moves air up to 20% more efficiently than standard ceiling fans and save you from $15-25 per year on utility bills. This is one of Hunter's top-of-the-line and best selling fans. This fan comes with many great features. The Hunter Original® is the most unique ceiling fan on the market, with a design that dates back to the turn of the 20th century. Cast iron is used in the motor housing construction to more effectively draw heat away from the electrical windings; heat is a major enemy of electrical motors. The extra weight of the cast-iron construction also reduces the potential for fan wobble. The motor is also larger than any other ceiling fan, making it the most powerful motor available. This allows the blades to be pitched at a 15 degree angle, which produces greater air movement with less noise. The oil-bath lubrication system protects the major moving components of the motor, and prolongs the life of the motor. Added up, these unique design elements produce a powerful, quiet fan that is backed by a limited lifetime warranty.
