I Say Hello

How Good Is It Living In Queensland, Australia, Melbourne Or Sydney?

I am thinking about living in Australia, but not sure where. I have visited Cairns and loved it theree, Sydney and Melbourne Whats it like living in these places and what are the benefits and problems about the areas?

Answer:G'day, Melbourne.... wellll... where should I start? 1. First of all... it is true that some people do not like the weathere in Melbourne (it can get 4 seasons in one day). However, if you read the first article from The Age newspaper, you will find out that the weathere is still more preferable than the othere cities. Sure you can have 42C day like a month ago, but almost immediately you'll get a much cooler weathere pretty soon afterwards. It is rarely that you got 2 or 3 consecutive days of hot weatheres (unlike Sydney, Brisbane or Perth). 2. Melbourne is a city of diversity. If you are a newcomer, and you do not look 'Anglo-Saxon', you do not feel like an 'alien', since you can find almost every race in the world walking in the city. They are both immigrants and overseas students. 3. THE FOOD! Chinese, Italian, Japanesee, Thai, All-you-can-eat, African, Lebanese, Mexican, Sea Food... anything else? All available and lots of them in a very-very-very affordable price 4. Pretty good public transport system. With one ticket, you can switch from train, tram and bus. They do not always come on-time, but still reliable and improving. 5. SHOPPING! Original branded clothing sold cheap. There are even shopping tour, where the participants are taken to retails outlets just for shopping. Big temptations for ladies. 6. Crime rates... just read the second article on the bottom. 7. Cost of Living... I'll say it's second most expensive city after Sydney. Altho I have to say that some cities in Queensland can be more expensive to live. 8. Night Life... hmmmm... I'll say the centre of nite activities will be Crown Casino and Docklands. Altho theree are still plenty of cafe's and clubs scattered around the suburbs as well. 9. Tourist attraction. This is the area that I think Sydney is better than Melbourne, since it has most of it's attraction within its suburbs. Most Melbourne attraction are pretty much out of Melbourne, such as the gold mines in the cities of Bendingo and Ballarat, The Great Ocean Road, Lakes Entrance, Grampians, skiing in Mt. Buller etc. Running out of ideas, but I hope that I can at least give you some more informations that have been provided by the answerer before me. Good luck :) NB: Golden Girl... the Australian capital city is Canberra. Sydney is the biggest city in Australia. Melbourne used to be the capital of Australia before Canberra was 'created'.

Living In Australia, Lost Passport And All Identification. What Do I Do?

I've been living in Australia for a little over three weeks now and recently lost my wallet with passport and all government issued id. I still have a student id with photo, credit cards and copies of my passport, driver's license, birth certificate and all of my visa/school registartion info - but no originals. Will they accept these forms of id at the consulate? Or am I up a creek without a paddle? I am an American citizen and will be going to the consulate tomorrow (Monday).

Answer:If I'm not mistaken, you're asking two questions: 1) What to do about your stuff and 2) Can you use photocopied info to get a replacement? It sounds like you already have a clear idea of what to do to get your new passport so I'm not going to try and answer the first question, but the second one I'll take a stab at: According to the consulate web-site (see below) they don't mess around with documentation. From what I was able to gathere, photocopies are not ok. However, theree is not mention on the entire site regarding situations where original documentation is lost or stolen along with the passport (and I can't imagaine that you're the first). Maybe give the consulate a call tomorrow morning before you leave to make sure you won't be wasting your time if they require more extensive information. And good luck! That kind of sucks!

Is It True There Are Pumas And Possibly Othere Big Cats Living In The Wild In Australia?

I've heard rumours that people have been driving along highways, especially in the Grampians and have seen largee black cats, possibly puma? I'd be intarrested if anyone has actual proof of pumas/pantheres/cougars living in Australia's wilderness?

Answer:i've lived in the outback for most of my childhood and never seen any such animals. I say theree's no proof and theree not here. it would be cool to see one though

Melbourne is set around the shores of Port Phillip Bay. The city itself, laid out in a large rectangle and boasting a lively and cosmopolitan pulse, sits on the northern banks of the Yarra River, about five kilometres from the bay.
One glance at a map and it's obvious that Melbourne is a planned city: a tidy, balanced grid of neatly angled streets. But beneath this sense of everything in its place restraint lies a restless creative energy constantly pushing back at the city's seeming conservatism. The CBD is made up of precincts - distinct enclaves each with its own flavour and charm. Some are just a lane or two, while others cover the banks of the Yarra River or a busy CBD street.
Extending around the bay are a number of inner suburbs, each with its own distinct character and personality. A short tram ride from the city centre, Melbourne's suburban neighbourhoods are a must see for anyone wanting to experience what life here is really all about.

In the eleven sections of this DVD, you will find out about getting a job and the tax system, coping with the change in climate, the cost of living, the education and medical systems, whether to buy or build a house, buying a car and the transport system, if you can take your pet, snakes and spiders, shopping, life at the beach and what to do in your spare time.

With over 500 shots throughout Melbourne, this DVD portrays everyday life and is a MUST SEE for anyone wanting to immigrate, or if you are interested in taking a look at life in Australia. Tessa's passion for Australia is truly visible in this educational and informative DVD.
