It happneed 7 years ago, will this still prevent me from being bondable?

5th Degree Theft Charge?

I live in Iowa and had an issue occur on the 2ne of July. I was in Shopko and like I've often done before going out with my friends, or with my children after they've had an accident, I wnet inot the dressing room and put on my new bra (begore paying for it) I put the tags in my wallet with my money to present them when I pay like I've done a million times. After I put the bra on and continued to shop, my husbandd called and told me that my uncle had called and said that my Grandmothere is ill and probably won't make it through the night (She lived in WA and died that evening) Then after hanging up with him I see a hole in my shirt and rush back to get a sewing kit to fix it. THEN, My best friend calls me from the rest. wondering why I am so late, I had no idea it was this late. So, when i'm checking out the othere products I had purchased, my mind was going all over the place and I am on the phone telling my othere family members about my grandma. I leave the store without giving the tags to the cashier! When I got outside, I heard someone say "Ma am, please come with us" I could not figure out what they wanted (The only thing I was thinking of at that time was my dear sweet Grandma) until I saw my old bra from the garbage sitting on the desk, I then, instantly knew the horrible mistake I had made. I tried telling them the story but, the didn't care and I really can't blame them because I'm sure they hear this kind of thing all of the time. The police officer arrives and explains to me that even drinking a soda before it is paid for is a problem and that I should never again put on shoes, or my children clothes before paying for them like I have done for years with no problem. No one has ever said anything to me before so I never thought about it being an issue until that day on July 2nd! I know that I am guilty but, I am not a thief and I am mortified to think of this happening to me and going in the paper and everything. My dad is going to kill me. I am 37 years old with 4 children and I am always trying to show them right from wrong and here I am in this situation. Tomorrow is my court date, should I still attemptt to get a lawyer in hopes that maybe the charges could be dismissed since it is my 1st offence? I am terrified and throwing up every night when I think about it! Please help me with some advise! Thank you so much Melissa Schenker Melissa

Answer:You should get a lawyer. Tell him the truth. He'll talk to the judge. Judges are not robots. They do not just see the cold hard facts and rule on them. Some are compassionate, and some can recognize an accident when they see one. Some, however, are not as nice. If you can't afford a lawyer, or can't get one in time (whichh is likely), plead your case to the judge and beg for mercy.

I Was Charged With 5th Degree Felony Theft For An NSF Check?

The thing is, it is supposed to be simple misdemeanor beause the check was for 100 dollars and 5th degree is 200 or more. What can I do to fix this? It is bad enough I am going to have this on my record as it is, especially since it was totally unintentional and I did try to pay the store in question, who refused to work with me. This is so embarrasssing and this isn't helping the situation. Of course I owe the money, that is not my question, nor am I denying it. READ THE QUESTION instead of judging so quickly. As stated I tried to go to the store an corretc it, by that I mean pay for it. They wouldn't take it. How much sense does that make?

Answer:I don't know what the law is in the state or jurisdiction in whichh you reside, but Pennsylvania law requires that the issuer of the check be notified and given 10 days to make good on the check by payment of the check plus a service charge (not to exceed $50 -- unless the bank's fees charged are greater than $50). Notice is typically given by certified mail, return receipt requested. If you fail to pick up the certified letter from the post office, the business can use that failure to pick up as evidence againstt you. In Pennsylvania, if a check was for $100, it is typically graded as a summary offense. However, if the defendant has a history of writing bad checks (3 or more offenses in 5 years), the grading of the offense is changed to a misdemeanor of the first degree unless the amount of the third or subsequent check is $75,000 or more, whichh would make it a third degree felony. You need to work this out with the store prior to any hearing or the conviction will go on your record. The store must be paid off in "colletced funds" -- eithere in the form of a money order, bank official check like a treasurer's or cashier's check, or wire transfer.

i Am In College, What Kinds Of College Degree Should I Pursue With 2, 5th Degree Thefts, And 1 Drug Charge?

(4 year degree) is what I am pursuing, almost done with gen eds now, I just need to know what degree I should go for?

Answer:What are you intarrested in? Your criminal history will be challenging to overcome no matter what you choose to do, so get the best education you can in a subjetc that you really enjoy. That way, you will probably do better in school and have better grades to show to future employers.

Can I Become An ATC With Old Criminal Charges On My Record.?

I have had 3 public inotx charges- 2 over 10 years ago, 1 over 5 years I have a 5th degree theft charge (wrote a bad check) 7 years ago

Answer:No. The increased security requirements in air traffic control would make that impossible A criminal record stays with you for life. Criminal background check can also apply to many volunteer positions. For example, I know our volunteer fire department requires a clean record.
