What Are Some Words In The Thesaurus Related To Curricular, Or Curriculum?

My daughter is doing a school project, and she hast to look up words, from the thesaurus. What words are in the Thesaurus, that are related to: Curricular;Curriculum?

Answer:Syllabus. Curricular is not a word, it's curricula (plural form of curriculum).

Would Anyone Reccommend Me A Thesaurus That Explains Detail?

Can anyone recommend me a dictionary that tells me the different uses of the same word? For example, the word "pull" has many synomyms on a thesaurus but most of the thesaurus does not explain the difference in detail. It just lists the synonym. WHich dictionary actually explains the slight difference ?

Answer:Any dictionary will work for this. A thesaurus doesn't have the space to explain which meaning, its up to you to look up the new synonym in a dictionary to see whether it is the meaning you want. A thesaurus assumes you're familiar with the synonyms, you just needed reminding.

What Is Your Favorite Dictionary And Favorite Thesaurus?

I have Bartlett's Roget's Thesaurus and it seems to be a good one, but I am thinking of buying a oxford dictionary. Any advice will be much appreciated.

Answer:My favorite dictionary is the Oxford Dictionary of English. I also have the unabridged Webster's, but I prefer the Oxford.

Where Is The Thesaurus In Windows XP Professional?

I used to be able to use Thesurus to find similar words in an older version of Word but cant find a Thesaurus in this one. Does anyone know where it is? Or can anyone suggest another word for long standing, as in long standing customers, who have been on database for ages but havent been to see us for a while.

Answer:XP doesn't come with a thesaurus as it is just an O/S. If you have office then you will have one there. Let us know what version of office you have and we may be able to help. Try http://thesaurus.reference.com/ which gives the following: Main Entry: long-standing Part of Speech: adjective Definition: existing for some time Synonyms: abiding, durable, enduring, established, fixed, lasting, long-established, long-lasting, long-lived, traditional Notes: long-standing has a hyphen; longtime does not

Roget's International Thesaurus, 6th Edition
Average Rating: 4.5
Price: $13.22
Author: Barbara Ann Kipfer
Manufacturer: Collins Reference
The revolutionary achievement of Dr. Peter Mark Roget's first edition in 1852 was the development of a brand-new principle: the arrangement of words and phrases according to their meanings. Dr. Roget's system brings together in one place all the terms associated with a single thought or concept; it allows a wide-ranging survey of language within a book of relatively modest size, without the space-consuming repetitions that so severely limit the scope of thesauruses arranged in a dictionary format with A-to-Z entries. This brilliant organization makes Roget's International Thesaurus® both the most efficient word finder and a cutting-edge aid in stimulating thought, organizing ideas, and writing and speaking more clearly and effectively.

This revised and updated sixth edition features thousands of new words and phrases, including the newest slang words and expressions that color and inform everyday language. It retains all of the hallmarks that have made Roget's International Thesaurus® an enduring classic:
  • More than 330,000 words and phrases organized into 1,075 categories.
  • A pinpoint reference system that directs the user quickly from a comprehensive index to the numbered category of the right word. Thousands of cross-references throughout lead to other helpful categories.
  • Hundreds of supplemental word lists that supply the names of things which have no synonyms (measurements, wines, weapons, animals, state mottoes, and more) as well as hundreds of quotations that amplify the meanings of selected words.
Generations of students, writers, editors, and speakers have made Roget's the most popular word reference book next to the dictionary. Continuing a legacy that dates back more than 150 years, Roget's International Thesaurus® is an indispensable work for everyone who wants to use the English language with clarity and precision.
