WinSCP.....?

I am trying to access my account from school at home. I downloaded WinSCP, but then it cae up with a screen that required my host name, username, password, and private key file....i kno that for my username and passwrod I have to type in my school username and password, but what is the host name and private key file??? thank you soooo much! ♥ =)

How On Earth Do I Install Themes To Winterboard Using WinSCP?

I've tried EVERYthing. I've done everything the instructions online tell me to do from creating folders and capitalizing the files, to placing them exactly where they tell me to. I've been working on this for hours and for whatever reason, I can't get them into my winterboard. I'll drag and drop them into the themes folder in WinSCP but I don't see them there. What am I doing wrong here?

Answer:winscp: root/library/themes drag and drop from your folder of course you have to load it first on the left side as usual so just drag and drop;) you might need to reboot for them to fully show, it happens sometimes.

How To Connect To Another Computer With Winscp?

I would like to transfer files securely using winscp with a friend of mine. we both use wireless routers in our homes, and both have charter internet even though thats not so important. so since we have wireless routers how would i connect to his computer using winscp. i know i have to type in his routers ip address and then somehow tell it to connect to his computer. not sure how to do that. help?

Answer:Your friend needs to run SSH server on his machine. One of the easiest setups is Cygwin with OpenSSH. http://sshwindows.sourceforge.net/ Once that's set up, you can configure it to accept passwords or private keys. Simply point your WinSCP client to his machine and transfer away.

How Would I Go About Transferring Files From Computer To Computer Using FTP WinSCP?

I have a Wi-Fi Connection and i've been using WinSCP to SSH into my iPod. So i was wondering if i could transfer files from one pc to another using like WinSCP? FTP File Transfer Protocol. Actualy Its from a Mac to a PC Mac Using Cyberduck and Windows using WinSCP

Answer:WinSCP is used to transfer files between a Windows machine and UNIX/Linux machine. As ipod is based on UNIX you can use WinSCP. If you want to transfer files between Window and Unix/Linux machine WinSCP is best. If you want to transfer files between windows machines then just share the drive and transfer the files. You don't need anything else.

Answer:I'm assuming you want to be able to send files between the 2 computers? WinSCP is a file transfer program used to upload/download to a web server which is why you need a username/password. its not intended to be used to 'connect' your computers. as long as the 2 computers are on the same network (i.e. 192.168.1.x, where x=the number for the specific PC, say .10 for one and .20 for the other) you should be able to set up Windows Networking. providing you are not using XP Home or Vista Home Basic you can also allow folder sharing (right click on a folder, select 'sharing and security' and select 'share this folder') and map to it as a networked folder
